mona lisa gets knocked up

Now, I'm as interested in art and hold a strong sense of art appreciation as the next person, but really, who gives a fuck whether or not Mona Lisa was pregnant? This article on MSNBC gives possible evidence to support this theory. But it begs the question, "Do we really need to know the back story on her?" I always thought it was her mystery that intregued us all so much. Now, if we're all so fired up to study the people behind the DiVinci canvas, let's decide once and for all if the depiction of the last supper is showing a very gay David or Mary Magdeline. That is much more interesting than whether or not Mona Lisa was knocked up.

I can't figure out why they don't just enjoy the painting for what it is, a great painting by a great artist. I concur who cares if she's pregnant...unless of course she's trying to hit me up for child support. Bitch.

She is very mysterious. Speculating about her has been one of the main draws for this painting, so I understand that the driving need to unlock the puzzle of this person but to what end? Instead of being a fantastic portrait from an amazing artist one may now think that he was simply commissioned to paint the lady's portrait; may have been just doing it for the money; may have just been done to fund what he might have considered his more serious art. Does it matter either way? I suppose not, but the back story of the subject is not nearly as important as the technique, style and pure artistic beauty DiVinci placed on the canvas.

It was not uncommon for an artist to be commissioned to paint a portrait. The reason for the painting does not denigrate it's quality. No one says an architect is less great because he gets paid for his work. On the contrary, the better the architect the bigger, better and more important jobs they get...and they command more money for their talents.
